The Smiths are a large group and I had to visit the famous Smith Rock to talk with my fore fathers. Sadly the rocks said nothing back. Oh well... I got a nice picture.

Duality

I took this late September 2017 on a 3 day trip through the Enchantments. You have to really want this shot. The hike into the Enchantments is not easy as Asgard and Snow Lakes make for the gate keepers of this otherworldly place. You will need to win the lottery permit to camp, but if you have the opportunity and you are not afraid of a little adventure the Enchantments will not disappoint.

I love visiting Mt St Helens in the summer. Its a amazing location with incredible history. Definitely one of my happy places.

Magic Hat

This is another wonder of the PNW. A geological marvel if you will. Colored sands all compacted together gives you a Kaleidoscope of colors. You just have to do a little traveling.

Approachable Moments

Mt Rainier is always a favorite visit during the summer months. I took this shot in late August if memory serves. It was perfectly clear night and I wanted to capture the stars and the moon behind this iconic mountain.

A Questionable Virtue

This is a 3 shot panoramic that I captured during my October hike last year through the Enchantments. I was rounding the corner getting ready for my ascent through Asgard and this amazing reflection jumped out. Of course I had to stop.

Pathway of Totality

Another 3 shot panoramic of the Tatoosh Mt Range. Late july to early August wildflower bloom will make you feel like your in Narnia.

Blue Monk

I love blue hour compositions and I wanted to do something different for this very popular shot at Mt Rainier. I sat at this location for 3 hours shooting different parts of the evening to put this all together.

Iconic You

A Washington State gem Colchuck Lake is nestled by the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. I took this shot on a very cold early October morning.

Gravity Rainbow

Persistence and will to succeed are everything. I took this picture in the summer of 2016. This was the only shot from a very failed photography trip up to Mt Rainier. A huge storm front had moved in covering the mountain in total fog destroying any possibility of a sunset and composition. As I drove off the mountain in defeat the clouds parted and the sun burned through for just a split second. I quickly pulled the car over grabbed my camera and tripod, ran down the valley and started firing away. This moment lasted less then 10 minutes before it was gone.

Hercules Rising

I told my self that in 2017 I was going to go to Artist Point in the North Cascades no matter what. I had planned for the middle of September for fall colors but I was just a tad early and a crazy storm rolled in beating me with snow, rain, wind and then teaser sun breaks. Since I had driven so far I waited it out and around 6pm was reward with a quick break in the clouds and zero wind. This lasted less then 5 minutes. I took my shots and drove off the mountain like I had just robbed a bank:-)

Activation

Another shot from the Enchantments. This was a early morning sunrise. The incredible beauty of this place is unmatched and very difficult to transfer to digital. The yellow larches are mind blowing and the granite rock and chiseled peaks are a must see with your own eyes.
